Estimate the volume of common mold cavities by selecting the closest shape and entering the inside measurements. The result is a geometric estimate for the shape selected.
How to use the mold shapes calculator
- Select the shape that most closely matches the cavity.
- Measure the inside diameter, height, side length, or other dimensions requested by the selected shape.
- Use the same measurement unit for all dimensions.
- Enter the number of matching molds and any material allowance.
- Review the volume for one mold and the total amount needed.
Where shape formulas have limits
A perfect cylinder, box, hexagon, or hemisphere follows a specific volume formula. Real molds may have rounded corners, texture, sloped walls, or decorative details that change their capacity.
For an irregular cavity, a compatible fill-and-measure method may provide a useful cross-check. Make sure the mold material permits the test liquid and dry it completely if moisture is used.
