About ResinCalculate
ResinCalculate is a free collection of epoxy and resin calculators, supported by practical guides for hobby makers, DIY project builders, and small businesses. The goal is to help you estimate material quantities, check calculations, and plan resin projects before you start mixing.
Who runs this site
ResinCalculate is run by Emuze Glory, a Computer Science graduate of the University of Benin.
I am not a resin chemist or a safety professional. The calculators use mathematical formulas and user-provided measurements to estimate quantities. The guides also refer readers to manufacturers' published product instructions. The tools are not based on laboratory testing of resin products, and their results should be checked against the requirements of the materials you use.
Why the site exists
A basic resin calculation can tell you the volume of a space, but planning a real project often involves more questions. You may need to account for coating area, mixing ratios, multiple pour layers, material costs, pigment quantities, or resin left in a mixing cup.
ResinCalculate was created to help answer practical questions such as:
Should I calculate this mix by weight or by volume?
How much resin will a coating or mold require?
How can I estimate the volume of a shape that is not a simple rectangular box?
How much resin should I allow for material left in a mixing container?
How can I estimate the quantity and cost of materials before starting?
What the calculators cover
The site currently provides nine calculators:
Mold Volume Calculator: estimates the volume of a mold.
Coating Calculator: estimates resin needed to cover a surface.
Deep Pour Calculator: helps estimate resin quantities for layered pours.
Mix Ratio Calculator: calculates component amounts from a specified mixing ratio.
Resin Cost Calculator: estimates material costs from entered prices and quantities.
Pigment Calculator: estimates pigment amounts using the selected calculation method.
River Table Calculator: helps estimate resin for a river-table channel.
Mold Shapes Calculator: estimates volume for supported mold shapes.
Leftover Resin Calculator: calculates the amount remaining after material is used.
Each calculator has its own page with relevant explanations, formulas, and examples. Available units and outputs depend on the calculator and the information entered.
How the calculations work
The calculators use mathematical relationships appropriate to the selected task. For example, a rectangular volume is calculated from length, width, and depth. A cylindrical volume uses the circle's area multiplied by its depth. Weight estimates can be calculated from volume and density when a suitable density value is available.
The result depends on the dimensions, units, ratios, density, and other values entered. Real projects may differ from ideal shapes because of uneven surfaces, irregular molds, material left in containers, or other practical factors.
Where a calculator provides a formula or worked example, use it to check how the result was obtained. Review your inputs and compare important values with direct measurements or the manufacturer's documentation.
Accuracy and product instructions
ResinCalculate is designed to support planning, not to guarantee a finished result. A correct mathematical estimate cannot guarantee a successful cure or replace product-specific instructions.
Before mixing or pouring, check the current technical data sheet and safety information for your exact resin, hardener, pigment, and other materials. Follow the specified mixing ratio, maximum pour depth, temperature range, curing conditions, and safety precautions.
If you find a calculation error, please report it so the relevant page can be reviewed.
How to report a mistake
If a result appears incorrect or a calculator does not behave as expected, visit the Contact page and send a message with:
The name of the calculator.
The values and units you entered.
The result displayed.
The result you expected, if known.
Providing these details makes it easier to reproduce the issue and check the calculation.
Advertising and independence
ResinCalculate may display advertising to help support the website. Advertisements are separate from the calculators and editorial content. The presence of an advertisement does not mean that ResinCalculate endorses the advertised product.
The site's calculations and guides are intended to provide practical information rather than sponsored product reviews. Always assess products using their published specifications and suitability for your project.
